The River Lights Chorus performs in various venues throughout the year, selling out their annual shows. From their first dinner show, where 14 singers entertained, to their charter show, with 22 singers, to November 2010 and 2011's performance at the Gallo Center for the Arts, the chorus keeps stepping up its level of entertainment.
In 2007, River Lights won the region’s Blue Ribbon for Best Small Chorus – a truly amazing feat for a chorus so young. Again in 2009, they came home with a Blue Ribbon for Best Small Chorus in Region 12. River Lights placed 2nd in the Region 12 competition for 2011 in the Small Chorus category.
River Lights Chorus has had outstanding directors with exceptional skills. Founding director, Peggy Long-Prevette, guided the chorus in committing to excellence. Helen Zwall brought creative song interpretations. And now with world renowned vocal educator Shirley Kout’s vast experience, the chorus is poised to reach even higher goals.
River Lights Chorus is all about “community”. The chorus performs for service organizations, area festivals, schools, convalescent hospitals, and retirement homes. They bring their uniquely American Style Music to many who might otherwise never experience barbershop harmony. The River Lights Chorus requires no accompaniment as the voice is their instrument.
River Lights Chorus is a rising voice in the Central Valley’s arts community. The River Lights Chorus looks forward to increasing its membership, improving its vocal skills and performing more often to larger and varied audiences in the Central Valley.
