About Us

We are a chorus for women of all ages who love to sing a cappella in the barbershop style. We are located in the beautiful Central Valley of California.

Barbershop harmony is a style of unaccompanied singing with three voices harmonizing to the melody. The lead usually sings the melody, with the tenor harmonizing above the lead. The bass sings the lowest harmonizing notes and the baritone provides in-between notes, either above or below the lead to make chords that give a barbershop chorus its distinctive, “full” sound.

RIVER LIGHTS CHORUS is a group of talented women committed to perfecting the musical art form of 4-part harmony through performances and education. The chorus provides a warm community where creativity, leadership and musicianship skills can be practiced and mastered. River Lights chorus is affiliated with the largest women's singing organization in the world - Sweet Adelines International.

River Lights hosts high teas every year. These very popular community events inspire the chorus to create a musical, visual and gastronomic banquet for our guests. Our Tea is held the Saturday before Thanksgiving every year. In addition we perform in the community at local events and meetings sponsored by civic organizations. On occasion we share the stage with our local men's barbershop group, Golden Valley Chorus. We also perform annually at our regional competition organized by the Pacific Shores Region 12 of Sweet Adelines International.
